Entering the world of Fashion is glamorous, fast-paced, and full of surprises. But like most things in life beauty isn't everything. Majoring in fashion is much more difficult and complex than what it is viewed as. Long hours, mental drainage, constant competition, and the ability to excel within your creativity and designs are many of the jobs highlights. After finishing college, fashionistas are left confused on what career path to take. A degree in fashion gives you branches to so many appealing fields and careers which makes the decision making that much more difficult.
Best ways to choose your career is by focusing on your favorite aspect of the field. Do you like the business side? Do you like the creative side? Do you aspire to work as a designer for a company or grow on developing your own? Or do you want to work as a stylist for film, tv, etc.? If creativity isn't your specialty, look for office jobs in fashion companies such as an assistant or receptionist.
Now it's time to find a job!
-Having connections is unfortunately the best way to score a job. Try to intern and network as much as you can throughout college, your connections and experiences will be a big plus.
-look at job postings online. There are many websites built on helping you find a career in fashion. Style Careers, Fashion Jobs, WWD, Apparel News
